Around the world in Cessna 182

June 13, 2004
Cairns, Australia (YBCS) to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (AYPY)

I started a bit later today, so I doubt I will be able to fly three legs as I did yesterday. It will probably be only two. But as they say, two out of three ain't bad.

At around 4 am local time, I took off from Cairns and set the course to Port Moresby at Papua New Guinea. Finally, after being in Australia for long time, I am going to a new country. Papua New Guinea is one of the places I hope to visit one day. From all I read about it, it seems like a very interesting place.

My flight took me over the South Pacific, and the great barer reef, but I really could not see much as it was dark. I am not sure that the reef is visible in the FS2004. I guess I will not find out today either. I chose to fly at 8,500 ft. where I found good winds. My heading was almost due North (004).

The approach and landing at Port Moresby went without any problems, so I went to refuel and prepare for the next leg. Sorry Papua New Guinea, I can only stay for a short while.
